Dr Dalton Nguyen graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours. As a student, he had an interest in feline upper respiratory disease and published his first journal article with leading specialists in this field.
Dalton started his early professional career at Colyton Vet Hospital allowing him to embrace his interest in small animal surgery. In 2018 he commenced a rotating internship at a specialist hospital in Eastern Sydney, focusing on small animal emergency, medicine and surgery. Following this, he accepted a surgical internship under the guidance of specialists in the field and completed this in 2020. During this time Dalton reported the first case of autopenetrating bilothorax in a dog and this was published in an Australian journal.
Dalton has completed various dental and orthopaedic surgery courses, some of which were conducted by the AOVET foundation. He continues to further his studies, and in 2019 was certified in small animal advanced CPR through the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. In 2021 Dalton became a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists after completing a 5 hour examination process. This credential recognises advanced knowledge in the field of small animal surgery. Dalton has a special interest in the management of complex medical and surgical cases but in particular orthopaedics, soft tissue, oncology and traumatology. He is currently furthering his studies in diagnostic imaging to complement his medical and surgical work up.
